I've been working on this demo for the last few months, and we play it in the car so much that my 2 year old started learning the words. WARNING: This video is super cute!

On June 5th, it will be my great pleasure to release to the world the song that I've been working on with one of my new best friends (Average Joe), and iconic @kj52instagram
KJ has been a huge inspiration to me and my music, spanning back 10 years. It's because of this guy that I even got into Christian hip hop in the first place. I remember before I fully came to Christ, playing KJ songs in the nightclub and hoping that I would somehow be able to find some more people to enjoy this new thing called Christian rap that I had discovered. In a few weeks, will be releasing this collaboration for you all to enjoy. Basically, if I never release another song after this it'll be a good note to go out on. But I feel like I'm just getting started. 'til the Lights Go is a #chh #dancepop #edm track that you will be bumping all summer long, and well into the holidays. This will be your new favorite song. #summerjams #summer #newfavoritesong #calltoworship #newmusic #moretocome #christianpop #christiandance #tilthelightsgo
When I first uploaded this song to the Tentmaker Music page on Audiomack, it was thought to be a way to vent some frustration among my peers and friends. 2 days later, we were staring down the barrel of 10,000 plays, and no way to explain ourselves. This song just seemed to strike a chord with people. That's the BIGGEST thing for me when it comes to my music. If people are connecting, I can say I'm doing my job! I mean, I'm constantly experimenting, and trying new things. But, I always stay true to myself, my convictions, and my message, sometimes to my own detriment. This song was about all the frustration that comes with releasing work that people either don't like or don't understand. As an artist, it actually makes me want to quit sometimes because this is really hard work. I put my all into my music, and when people don't connect with it, I have to step back and ask why.
These last few years, I've been going down a dark path, filled with new perspectives and new doubts about my life. one of those doubts was whether or not it was time for me to hang up the cape and just go be Joe Normal (no offense AJ). I had to ask myself, if I had seen one too many VH1: Behind the Music specials...and if I was just chasing fantasies about my music and dreams. Somehow, when people hear this song, I think it makes them confront their own fears and fantasies. Everyone has a Dragon and a Unicorn to deal with. I was just being real honest about mine. And, that's what I intend to do for all of my future releases...just be real honest. Even if people don't understand. Even if it hurts. Today, it is the newest addition to XERO's library of single, available on all major outlets. Surprisingly, it was added to Pandora of all places! That's a big deal when you consider they've rejected everyone of my works since "Better Off" was seeded there. It's been about 8 years since they heard something from me that they felt like adding to the big ol' playlist in the sky (welcome back Pandora). I sent links out to a bunch of blogs and outlets online, but nothing has been sent out to the Christian markets yet. Somehow, I don't think they'd really connect with this song anyway. We did make friends with a new channel on youtube called "Daily Rap". They're linked as my official youtube audio for this track as well. So now, you get to listen, and decide for yourself, to see if Chasing Unicorns is a sleeper hit that has just come to life, of if you'll just swipe to the left...and all that millennial jargon. See you on the next release! ~X |
